Week beginning 10th December 2018

In English, we have been finishing and editing our myths. We have enjoyed typing these on the laptops and were very reflective, improving our vocabulary and adding adverbials for cohesion. In Maths we have concluded our work on Statistics and moved on to Position and Direction. We have learnt some new vocabulary: translation, vector, reflection and congruent. We liked studying and mastering these. At the beginning of the week, we set up an experiment to investigate which type of milk goes off the quickest. We have excelled at using ph indicator paper to monitor this, however we have not seen enough change in these measurements to come to a conclusion. Being reflective scientists, we have decided to leave these over the weekend to see if there is a greater difference between them on Monday. On Thursday afternoon, we enjoyed meeting our buddies in Reception. We loved sharing stories with them and are looking forward to spending time with them again soon.

Week beginning 3rd December 2018

What an exciting start to the week we had! Father Christmas had visited the school, leaving a letter for us to respond to. We were very persuasive in our replies and look forward to seeing if our wishes come true! This week in English we have continued to write our myths involving the characters we created. We have focused on making our writing cohesive and using lots of rich descriptive language.  In Maths we have been completing, reading and interpreting tables and line graphs. During our Topic sessions we have been busy making our 'coke' volcanoes erupt, we were a bit disappointed as they didn't fizz up as much as we hope! We have been busy perfecting our song for the Christmas Fayre and very much hope to see you there. Finally, as the children have worked so hard this term, we will not be handing out anymore homework until next term. We hope you and your families welcome this break and enjoy the opportunity to embrace the festivities!
